Academy Hour and Lighthouse Health & Wellness Partner to Bring FREE Mental Health Technology and Training to First Responders
Date:Tuesday May 4, 2021
Academy Hour and Lighthouse Health & Wellness have partnered to bring first responders a variety of no-cost, absolutely free mental health resources.
Academy Hour provides mental health training and support resources for First Responders and emergency response personnel. Lighthouse Health & Wellness is a public benefit corporation dedicated to ensuring that all public safety agencies have the ability to provide their employees and those that support them with confidential and anonymous access to health and wellness information.
The partnership between Academy Hour and Lighthouse strengthens and expands the individual capabilities of each. “We do not want cost to ever be an obstacle to departments and personnel when it comes to mental health technology and training,” said Amy Morgan, Founder and CEO of Academy Hour.
At the foundation of Lighthouse Heath & Wellness’ efforts is the Lighthouse Core program, consisting of free access to the Lighthouse Health & Wellness library and a no-cost custom mobile application tailored specifically to the needs of each participating agency. The wellness library includes content covering a number of topics including personal wellness, mental health, physical fitness, financial fitness, substance use and addiction, self-assessments, training, therapist-finder, chaplain connection and more.
Academy Hour offers an extensive free mental health training catalog for First Responders. Additional offerings include a peer support team training and certification program as well as cultural competency training and certification for clinicians who want to work with First Responders. Academy Hour also provides further support resources for First Responders including online support groups, peer support services and options for on-site and online mental health training programs.
Lighthouse will immediately begin offering the Academy Hour library of no-cost classes directly to participating agencies and will soon include counselors with the Academy Hour’s Certified First Responder Counselor (CFRC) designation in it’s nationwide therapist directory.
Academy Hour will be launching Lighthouse-powered mobile applications to support their students, counselors and peer support teams. They will also incorporate training on how to use mobile technology to bridge the awareness gap and break down the stigma that exists around first responders reaching out for assistance.
“Working with Amy & Academy Hour will allow us to expand the no-cost content we provide our agencies,” said Joe Ramirez, Founder & CEO of Lighthouse Health & Wellness. “Just as important, I’m excited that Amy will now be a resource behind the scenes for Lighthouse as we seek to grow our content base and resource library. She adds the culturally competent clinical muscle to ensure our technical and operational strengths are put to their highest and best use.”
